«I have no delusions of grandeur and I know my place in the judiciary. My oath requires me to apply the law as interpreted by the Supreme Court of the United States. I will continue to do as I am told until the Supreme Court concludes that the death penalty cannot be administered in a constitutional manner or our legislatures abolish the penalty. But lest there be any doubt, the idea that the death penalty is fairly and rationally imposed in this country is a farce.—

Very interesting to read Robert’s story and what all went on. In my opinion, it should be required reading for staunch supporters of the death penalty, because it goes to show that not everyone sentenced to death truly deserves it.
This also serves as a realistic reminder that corrupted/perverted judicial systems aren’t only figments of a Hollywood imagination. Too often have I run across law enforcement that believes it is above the very law it enforces *recalls all the cops that speed along 10-15 over the limit…bastards, all of them*. My recollection there is only a minor offense, though…the “You didn’t see that” mentality described in one of the entries is very disturbing.
This is a great website! Love reading Robert’s perspective on things — and I enjoyed hearing about your own!

More people should speak out against capital punishment. It’s hypocritical at the simplest level. “We’re justified in murdering you, but you were wrong to do it.”
